Melissa Forester
Melissa has spent her life exploring a curiosity about the human body; our physiology as well as behavior in the individual and society. This led her to pursue a degree in evolutionary and medical Anthropology at SFSU where she received her BA.
As her studies progressed, it became clear to her that the quality of Movement is a primary factor whether we are thinking about physical and mental health or aspects such as character and the development of human potential. Movement, as she has come to see it, is a gateway for exploring our capacity as human beings.
In 2005 she began studying Qigong with the Institute for Internal Transformation and is now one of very few authorized teachers of this system in the bay area.
GYROTONIC ® struck a chord with her in 2008 as it worked hand in hand with the Qigong practice she had already been developing. GYROTONIC® had discovered a route into improving movement mechanics which was quick and effective and which can prepare the body for improving health and in finding a sense of lightness and ease. Melissa received her training at SF Gyrotonic in 2010 from Nora Heiber and Elizabeth Dawson. With wonderful training under her belt she is happy to expand into the world of GYROTONIC®.
